Ghoomti Gallery (the wandering gallery) 2024
In many smaller towns and rural areas across India, there is a significant lack of access to museums, art galleries, and cultural institutions. This often creates a cultural disconnect for communities that have little to no interaction with contemporary art. The idea was to find a creative way to bridge this gap and make art more accessible to people in underrepresented regions. The challenge was to create an inclusive space for storytelling, local narratives, and visual experiences without the constraint of a physical building.
To democratize access to art, a truck was creatively repurposed into a mobile museum “wandering" exhibition space that could travel through neighborhoods and villages in Punjab. The truck, reimagined through strong visual storytelling and design interventions, functioned as a museum on wheels. It featured local and contemporary artwork and installations inside and around the truck body, allowing communities to engage with art in familiar everyday settings.
